Scientologist Censorship to South Park
It is reported by Hollywood media that Church of Scientology used its celebrity potential to prevent an upcoming South Park episode from being aired on Comedy Central. Episode includes parts that satirizes the religion, as many other episodes of South Park for other issues.
As Isaac Hayes (voice of Chef) quit over an episode making fun of Scientology, the general tension inbetween increased rapidly. Relatively Matt said: "This has nothing to do with intolerance and bigotry and everything to do with the fact that Isaac Hayes is a Scientologist and that we recently featured Scientology in an episode of 'South Park.' In ten years and over 150 episodes of 'South Park,' Isaac never had a problem with the show making fun of Christians, Muslims, Mormons and Jews. He got a sudden case of religious sensitivity when it was his religion featured on the show. To bring the civil rights struggle into this is just a non-sequiter. Of course we will release Isaac from his contract and we wish him well."
It is unacceptable to tolerate any kind of censorship, and we condemn the fact that any person should have the force to affect the media broadcast depending on his or her personal mood. South Park is one of the best series of modern animation, and we hope Trey and Matt will not deal with this kind of unnecessary disturbance anymore. Taste and liking is one thing, but censorship is another.
